Outdoor Fun

We have been outside enjoying the sun this week. Here are a couple activities we are enjoying...

I made some chalk paint (recipe found Here) and we had fun painting the sidewalks. I used my favorite neon food coloring... love the colours! This paint starts out vibrant and then dries like chalk. Easily made from stuff in your pantry and lots of fun!

I found THIS great idea on the blog Chasing Cheerios. I froze some small plastic animals and gave Kingston a hammer. He loves this and has insisted we do it EVERY day!

Here are two of my favourite sites for kids crafts and activities. They are FULL of great ideas!

Bias Tape

I finally made my own bias tape! It was so easy. I used a Bias tape maker like this one. You can get fancier machines but this was so easy I just can't justify the extra cost ; )

Sew4Home has a great tutorial if you want to try making your own.

I used a vintage sheet to make this bias tape. Now I have another use for my growing sheet collection!

I used the polkadot bias tape to make this art smock for Kingston. It is made from a men's XL shirt. I cut off the collar and trimmed the neckline with bias tape. Then I shortened the sleeve and added some elastic around the wrists. Love how it turned out...perfect for keeping the paint off my little Pollock!

Finished a new skirt....hope to have the tutorial up early this week. Can't wait to show you!

In My Garden

It may be hard to tell in the picture but that is my thumb and it is GREEN ; )

It is a miracle...I have never even been able to keep a house plant alive! Last year I tried starting some seeds but none of them came up..I was determined to grow something this year.

I started my lettuce and radishes from seed and look at them flourishing in the garden! I tried one of the radishes....they are huge and tasty. Can't wait to see what else comes up this summer!

First Birthday

We celebrated my baby's First Birthday a couple weeks ago. He and his Daddy's birthdays are only 5 days apart so we had a little family party for them both. I was sleep deprived and still drowning in laundry from our trip...so I kept it very simple!

I made a ribbon backdrop for the food table. So quick to make and really brings together the colour scheme. I did it the morning of the party so I just hot glued the ribbons around a dowel. I made sure I didn't actually glue any of the ribbon to the dowel so I could reuse the ribbon after ; )

I also made some pinwheel cupcake toppers out of scrapbook paper the night before to decorate my (store-bought) cupcakes. Damien was not a fan of the cupcakes...maybe he could tell they weren't homemade!

I can't believe it has been a year since this sweet boy entered the world!

Damien you have brought so much joy into our lives. I am so blessed to have the privilege of raising you. Love you little man!

Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day Tradition

Last year I started a Father's Day tradition which I love. I took a picture of Kingston wearing Daddy's shirt and tie and asked him a few questions about his Daddy. I printed it off along with the word for word interview and Daddy loved it! Such a great way to capture their growth and the funny things they say!

Here is Kingston's interview from last year:

How old is Daddy? Two
What is Daddy's favorite colour? Blue...yes that's right
What does Daddy always say? No screaming
What is Daddy's favorite food? Spicy food
What does Daddy do? He works in the Jeep and downstairs. I think so.
What is your favorite thing to do with Daddy? Play trucks, trailers and big boxers and cars.
What make Daddy Happy? Um...I make him happy.

This year I dressed up both boys in Daddy's clothes! I asked Kingston the same questions and will print it off again like last year for Daddy's office.

Hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day weekend!

Rainy Summer Days

We have been having some dreary summer days this week and all the boys want to do is play outside. We have managed to still have some fun inside though! This is what has been keeping us entertained on these rainy days...

Guess Who

Rainbow Playdoh

Hide & Seek

Lego parades...complete with marching music! We recently discovered Lego videos on You Tube...check them out if there is a Lego fan in your house. This one is Kingston's favorite!

Sheet Painting

Old sheets make great canvases because they are BIG and reusable! As long as you use washable paint you can throw your canvas in the washer when you are done and then create another masterpiece.

I found the best thing for holding paints outside is a popsicle mold! It doesn't fall over easily...so less spillage.

Remember to have the kiddie pool filled up for easy clean up after ; )
